Completely agree! While it seems a bit cutthroat that only one driver gets cut, it’s an entertaining element that sets the racing series apart. I explained F1 qualifying to a friend recently & they assumed people were cut and not allowed to race on Sunday. The lack of a “pack your bags” structure surprised them.
Thanks for keeping me caught up! It's interesting how McLaren is finding success in IndyCar, rather than F1. IndyCar's unpredictability is so refreshing!
Gladly & I agree! I was already thinking of breaking down the difference of McLaren in Indy versus F1 in a different article. I know O’Ward tested in F1 last year and had a lot of fun. I’d be interested to see how McLaren IndyCar drivers would do in F1 - there’s a bit of a track record of IndyCar drivers not doing well in F1, but who knows!
I found the qualifying drama at the back the most compelling part. Having to qualify to even race is something that other big events miss I think.

First time watching Indy500 qualifying and really loved it! Can't wait for the actual race next week!
